Visual Redaction troubleshooting

Common issues

• Rectangles not appearing: click and drag, don't just click. The minimum rectangle size is 5x5 pixels.
• Content visible after burn: zoom to 200% and check again. If content is truly visible, the burn did not complete — retry.
• Processing slow: each page is rendered at 200 DPI and composited. For 50+ page documents, expect 30-60 seconds.
• File too large after redaction: this is expected. Every page is now a raster image. Run Compress as a follow-up, but accept some size increase.

Recovery steps

1. Retry with a smaller sample file.
2. Refresh and run the tool again.
3. Use an alternative workflow from /tools if needed.
4. Check /status for current incidents.

What this does not protect

• Troubleshooting guidance does not guarantee recovery for damaged files.
• It does not bypass document owner restrictions when cryptography is enforced.
